FAQ
Here in Coats, Angier, Fuquay-Varina, Fair Oaks, Apex, and more of Harnett and Wake Counties, NC, permits for deck repairs are not always mandatory.
Unless you’re not changing the frame or expanding the deck, you won’t need a permit to repair a deck. As long as everything stays the same and you’re just replacing a few rotten boards, we can do the job without a permit.
A deck repair can include a lot of upgrades, from replacing several rotten boards to replacing an entire deck. Generally, most homeowners get new decking and new railing, but when the framing is rotten, we’re required to replace that as well.
It depends. We’ll thoroughly inspect your existing deck and let you know the most pressing things that need attention. If your deck can still be saved, we’ll be more than happy to fix it.
However, there were times when some decks were so rotten and damaged that there was no coming back, and our clients decided it’s safer for them to get a new deck instead.
Repairing a deck can take anywhere from one day (when only replacing a few damaged decking boards) to an entire week for extensive repairs or replacements. Replacing an entire wood deck for a composite deck takes around 5 days.
If you have prior experience with deck repairing projects, you can definitely try. However, we’ve seen a lot of decks that nearly collapsed simply because the homeowner wanted to “save some money”. In the long run, these DIY solutions never pay off, and you’re better off paying a licensed expert do it for you.
